About Us

It all began a few years ago when a friend told her about a jewelry making class she had taken in Hawaii.  A self proclaimed shopaholic, there was nothing our 808 girl loved more than clothes, shoes, and jewelry!  Upon hearing that she could actually learn to make her own jewelry, she immediately sought out the nearest class in Las Vegas and was instantly hooked!  Before long, she had made herself jewelry to go with every outfit and soon, people began to ask how they could purchase some for themselves.  

Born and raised on the island of Oahu, our 808 girl never imagined leaving Hawaii, but after college she found herself seeking adventure.  A business trip to Las Vegas opened her eyes to life on the mainland and one year later in 2000, she and her soon-to-be husband made the big move.  Three months later, they were married and nearly seven years later, they are still happily living in Las Vegas (a.k.a. the ninth island of Hawaii) with their four cats!  Together, they make up 808 Girl Designs (with our 808 Girl doing the vast majority of the work!)!

Although she has been living away from Hawaii for a few years, people still ask about her “accent”, her iPod is full of Hawaiian music, and laulau, poke, and lomi salmon is still a regular part of her diet.  It just goes to show that you can take the girl out of Hawaii, but you can’t take Hawaii out of the girl!
